IREF The Game

Lydia, Gabino, and our other AR ref (forgot his name..so sorry) reffed our game today, 4-24-2021. They all did awesome!! The game was called both ways evenly! The refs were so helpful as far as educating me on a call during half time. They let the kids play their best game without worrying about being called for every little thing they do!! LOVED them all so much!! How can I get them for every game we have??

Mark from IREF was mentoring 2 refs on this game. The real compliment… is that MCKINLEY WEIR had a tough offsides call that she got right. She didn’t call it until their player was in the play, watched it and caught it and it was when Mark wasn’t on her side helping. Great job on a tough call.

I was told about IREF. I decided to pop in a clinic to see what it was like. I learned a ton from Mark Probert. A ref who, when I was playing back when I was around 10-12, was the coolest ref ever and that’s when I wanted to be a ref. At the clinic I learned a lot about reffing, handling parents, players, and coaches and how to be composed and be a representative of the sport. No clinic can tell you what to expect during a heated game, but IREF teaches you how to deal with the problems professionally. Now in my 3rd year of state reffing, I always look back at my IREF training and what I’ve learned. From U8 Comp games to U19 State championship games, the way I handle games is all thanks to IREF and Mark.
